How to Deploy an ISP Speed Test Server
A local speed test server gives your subscribers accurate, low-latency performance testing — and gives you honest data.
Placing a speed test server inside your network changes the story your subscribers see. Distances go from hundreds of milliseconds to single digits, jitter improves visibly, and complaints about 'the internet is slow' get grounded in real numbers.
Sizing
Server sizing depends on the biggest realistic test you expect to run — usually your top plan's speed times a small concurrency buffer.
Placement
Place the server as close to your core as possible without crossing NAT boundaries. Reserve enough uplink capacity that the test itself doesn't distort real production traffic.
