Zero-Touch ONT Provisioning
Practical patterns for zero-touch onboarding of subscriber ONTs — from unbox to online without a truck roll.
Zero-touch provisioning (ZTP) means an ONT arriving at a subscriber's home is either usable out of the box, or reachable by your ACS the moment it comes online, and then configured automatically.
The core pieces
- ONT auto-authentication on the OLT (SN / LOID)
- Default VLAN that routes CPE to the ACS
- ACS provisioning policy per subscriber tier
- Default Wi-Fi behaviour on boot
Common blockers
- Vendor mismatch between OLT and ONT
- ACS reachable only over management VLAN that the ONT can't join
- Firmware differences between ONT batches
